Winkler Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire Thursday morning on Pineridge Place, located at the city's west end. The call came in shortly before 8:30 a.m.

When crews arrived, they found a fire in the garage of the home, and were able to extinguish it. According to Chief Richard Paetzold, the blaze was contained to the garage.

There were people home at the time of the fire, but they were able to escape without injury.

The cause remains under investigation, with a damage estimate unknown at this time.
