In March we were joined on the Morning Show by Altona’s Ang Stoesz who had just found out she would be receiving the prestigious Governor General’s Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers. The medal is an official Canadian honour, recognizing exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country, so it was pretty cool one of only eight people selected was from Southern Manitoba.

At the time, Ang was told it could be more than a year before she received the medal at a ceremony in Ottawa, but then all of a sudden she got a phone call at the end of October.

That’s Altona’s Ang Stoesz who November 5th received the Governor General’s Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers at a ceremony in Ottawa.

And we really like what she said at the end of the conversation... how volunteer driven organizations are not just about the leader. It’s everyone involved that makes things work. So true, and we have so many hard working volunteers in Southern Manitoba doing extraordinary things!

Congratulations Ang!
