There will be a game five in the NHL's Western Conference final.

Jonathan Marchessault scored twice to lead the Vegas Golden Knights past the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 Monday night at Bell MTS Place.

The best-of-seven series is tied at a game a piece.

"We were chasing the game again," said Jets captain Blake Wheeler when asked if this loss was reminiscent of the low scoring games they saw in round two against the Nashville Predators. "Down two goals and just made it tough. It didn't feel like playing against Nashville but those guys do a good job in their own right. We just couldn't get any momentum going."

Tomas Tatar and Marchessault scored in the first period for the Golden Knights who took that lead into the third period.

Kyle Connor finally got Winnipeg on the scoreboard as he beat Vegas netminder Marc-Andre Fleury 7:17 into the final frame.

That momentum was short-lived as Marchessault potted his second of the night just 88 seconds later.

"They were better for sure," said Jets head coach Paul Maurice on the Golden Knights bounce back game after losing the opener 4-2 on Saturday. "We were not right. Certainly there's a 10-minute block there we're not going to like very much tomorrow."

The series now shifts to Las Vegas for games three and four on Wednesday and Friday.

Game five is back in Winnipeg on Sunday.
