The 35th Manitoba 55 Plus Games take place today, Wednesday and Thursday in Killarney.

Events include the 3km Predicted Walk/Run, the 1km Nordic Pole Predicted Walk, the 16km Predicted Cycle, 5-Pin Bowling, Golf, Arts & Crafts, Bocce Ball, Carpet Bowling, Contract Bridge, Cribbage, Duplicate Bridge, Floor Curling, Floor Shuffleboard, Horseshoes, Pickleball, Scrabble, Slo-Pitch, Snooker, Swimming, Tennis, Track and Whist.

920 athletes have registered for the Games representing Pembina Valley, Eastman, Norman East, Norman West, Parkland, Westman, Interlake, Central Plains and five Winnipeg regions.

Pembina Valley athletes brought home 25 medals from the 2016 Games in Brandon including 12 gold, eight silver and five bronze.

The games purpose is to provide a sport and recreation outlet for friendly competition for Manitobans 55 and over. To provide and promote opportunities that contributes to the education, culture, social activity and general well being of Manitobans 55 and over and to engender a sense of community spirit by providing the opportunity and catalyst for bringing older adults, their families, and the community at large, together to participate in the 55 Plus Games.

Killarney previously hosted the Manitoba 55 Plus Games in 1996 & 2010.
