The Esso Cup is only 46 days away and the Pembina Valley Hawks are off to the championship series of the Manitoba Female "AAA" Midget hockey league after sweeping the Winnipeg Avros in three straight.

With the national championship rapidly approaching for the need for volunteers is still there and they would appreciate more volunteers to sign up.

"So far we have over 100 volunteers that have signed up and that's really good. As we get closer to the date and going through the volunteer list we do realize we need more," said volunteer committee co-chair Rob Reimer. "We are looking at another fifty to seventy-five more volunteers to fill all of the positions we do have available."

To sign up for volunteering Reimer noted each volunteer would need to complete a criminal record check.

"Some of the volunteer responsibilities we are looking at is merchandise sales, ticket scanners, ticket sales, working in the kitchens, we have an awards breakfast, a volunteer lounge," explained Reimer. "So there are a number of different positions you can volunteer for. If any of those interest you, we would love for you to sign up."

Reimer noted each volunteer shift would be roughly two hours in length and they'd like to have each volunteer do a minimum of two shifts throughout the week but noted if you can do more that would be terrific.

The Esso Cup will take place April 23rd to 29th at the Access Event Centre in Morden.
