The Esso Cup is only 25 days away and the Pembina Valley Hawks are in the middle of keeping fresh as they have some time before they host the top six female midget hockey teams in the country.

"I do feel confident that it will come together. There's always a few things last minute, that maybe we missed or something changes and that's just something about event planning. We will just have to make those changes or plans when they come," explained host committee chair, Clare Agnew.

As the days continue to wind down toward the national championship the planning committees are still hard at work getting everything ready for the country to see.

"Everything really is falling into place. We are really close to completing our schedule for the volunteers. We have all the people that we need signed up. We are just putting some of those people in the slots and making sure the time slots work for people," said Agnew.

Agnew noted they do have a wide variety of volunteers which includes a number of girls from the 2012 Esso Cup championship team and their families.

An event like this wouldn't be possible without the support from the community/region as a whole. Agnew stated as, like the volunteers, the business community came forward showed their support to make this event possible.
"Our sponsors were amazing again. They keep supporting events like these that come to the community and I'm very thankful for that," said Agnew.

There are going to be a few events during the week which are open to the public to attend. Opening ceremonies of sorts will be taking place on Saturday, April 22nd. There will be a fireworks evening, which will provide the region to welcome the teams as they will be introduced prior to the festivities. Another event is a tailgate party (from 4:00-6:00 p.m.), which Agnew stated will be held in the Co-op Gold arena prior to the gold medal game which is played.

Agnew also noted the Bronze and Gold games will be played Saturday, April 29th at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. respectively.

Tickets packages can be purchased at the Access Event Centre during regular business hours, or on Hockey Canada's website. Packages are $60 for the entire week for regular seating and $80 for inside seating.

The Esso Cup will take place April 23rd to 29th at the Access Event Centre in Morden.
