It's another chance for Elm Creek's Corinne Schroeder to represent her country on the ice. Schroeder will be one of three goalies tending the crease at the Women's U-18 World Championships in Czech Republic in January.

"I'm very excited to go. It's going to be an incredible experience. I really just can't wait. I was very excited when I first heard that I had been selected to the team," said Schroeder.

This will be the second time Schroeder will represent Canada on the international stage. The first time was Hockey Canada's U-18 Hockey Development Camp for a chance to play in a mini-series against U.S.A.

The team was selected from the players performances at the U-18 Development Camp, mini-series against the United States, and the U-18 Nationals, where she represented Manitoba.

Schroeder stated it's great to see all of her hard work paying off.

"It's honestly such a good feeling to know that every little piece counts. Sometimes you feel like one day doesn't matter, but it really does," said the former Pembina Valley Hawk. "You put in the work, and you may not realize how much you are doing. Being rewarded with this is just an amazing thing and helps you realize how much the little things matter.

The tournament takes place January 7th to 15th in Prerov and Zlin, Czech Republic. Canada will be in Group 'A' with Sweden, U.S.A., and Russia, while the host Czech's will be in Group 'B' along side Japan, Switzerland, and Finland.

Schroeder explained it's important to keep a level head when playing in this tournament.

"You have to go in with kind of a level head, not thinking that you are going to go in and dominate because your going in with team Canada. That's not the way to think of it," said Schroeder. ''You have to decide that you are going to work your hardest every second and the results will be what they are. You just need to go in, work, and make those results happen."
