2014-15, 2015-16, and 2016-17 are the three years in a row the Morden Thunder have captured the Zone 4 championship.

"You look at the guys on the list. There are a lot of veterans who have been here before and have worked for their third championship," said Thunder coach Tyler Sloan. "You get to a point in the game and have to do what it takes to win and I could look down the bench and I had a lot of guys who already knew what that was. Kudos to these guys they worked really hard and I'm just really happy for them."

Morden defeated the Carman Cougars 6-2 to complete the two-game sweep Wednesday night.

Tyson Allison tallied the game's first goal after he attempted to dump the puck in on the Thunder net and go for a change, but it handcuffed the Morden goaltender and went in. The Thunder then went on to score four times before the period was over. Josh Sawatzky scored a pair, while singles went to Finley Wheeler and Tanner Wiebe.

Brayden Jonasson increased Morden's lead by one in the middle frame on the power-play and Matt Lehmann had the lone goal for Carman in the second.

Meanwhile, in the third period, Keane Boucher scored the Thunder's sixth goal, shorthanded.

Playoff MVP honours went to Thunder defencemen Tanner Wiebe, who recorded two goals and nine points during the playoffs.

"I'm pretty pumped and just want to celebrate with the team," said Wiebe. "I have to thank my teammates out there. They really helped me out there. Especially my goalie (Owen Domitruk), he saved me a lot of our there."

Alex Clemis allowed five goals on 27 shots for the Cougars, before being replaced by Oren Worley roughly half way through the second and he gave up one goal on 16 shots. Meanwhile, Domitruk made 17 stops in the victory for the Thunder.

Morden will now represent Zone 4 at the 'AAAA' provincials in Portage March 10th-13th. While the Cougars will head to the 'AA' provincials in Morris March 9th till 11th.
