Corey Mazinke scored his second goal of the game on a breakaway to snap the Pembina Valley Twisters three game losing skid with a 5-4 win over the Raiders Jr. Hockey Club.

"It was kind of a broken play in the neutral zone. I saw that Fraser Mirrlees and I kind of picked it up and I thought he might dish it over to me, so I just busted down. He flipped one out to me and it was a break away. I thought the goalie was cheating to the short side, so I went far side and lucky enough it went in," said Mazinke.

With the win the Twisters still sit in third place in the Manitoba Major Junior Hockey League with a 21-9-4 record and trail the Charleswood Hawks and Stonewall Jets for second and first place respectively with only 11 games left in the regular season.

Nikolas Lynam put the visiting Raiders up 1-0, only 5:34 into the opening period, but before the first was half over Mazinke found the back of the net for his first of two and four points on the night.

After twenty minutes of play the score was one all and Carson Rybuck made it 2-1 for the visiting team, but only :23 seconds later Fraser Mirrlees knotted the game up at 2 with Mazinke and Jeremie Goderis picking up the helpers on the play.

"We got kind of lucky walking out of here with the two points," reflected head coach Ryan Dyck. "Our own zone was a little mishmashed. The wingers weren't getting it out, the defence were leaving guys, and the centre-men weren't helping out. We have to be a lot better defensively if we want to compete in this league going forward here."

The two teams skated to a 2 all tie after forty and Fraser then netted his second of the game to put the home Twisters up by one. Once again the opposing team replied quickly. Devin Manness tallied only :16 seconds later to again tie the game. Dawson Anderson was able to snap one past Pembina Valley net-minder Matt Kohlman who made 52 saves in the win.

"I just focused on my game, the whole game and it was as simple as that and we got the win," said Kohlman

The Twisters weren't going down without a fight and Brendan Keck was able to even the game again, with roughly four minutes remaining.

It was a late hooking call assessed to James Van Der Velde with just over a minute left in the game that put the crowd on edge, but the Twisters were able to kill off the penalty, including the overtime portion of it and Mirrlees then sprung Mazinke on the break away and he made no mistake and sent the fans home happy.

Pembina Valley will continue their six game home stand Tuesday night when the Transcona Railer Express are in Morris, puck drop is at 7:30 p.m.
