The Altona MCC Gift and Thrift Shop registered a solid sales performance in 2017.

Manager Corny Fehr says total sales last year were up about $30,000 dollars from the year previous to $653,000.

Fehr says clothing continues to be one of their top selling lines of merchandise, but there are a number other things that sold well.

"Collectibles brought in about $27,000, our silent auction brought in about $13,000 and then appliances and furniture sell quite well too," said Fehr.

2017 marked the first full year of operations in the newly expanded facility.

Fehr says volunteers are enjoying the extra space to work in. He added, the new expansion project also resulted in the use of some new technology for the volunteers to use.

"Now we do barcoding instead of the ordinary till and in the beginning that was a little tough. Volunteers had to learn to work with that equipment which took a little time, but I think overall we did very well."

Manitoba MCC Executive Director Daryl Loewen was the guest speaker for this year's annual meeting.
