Members of 4-H clubs throughout Manitoba focus much of their attention on agriculture, but what some people might not know is how involved they are with other aspects of life skills, such as art.

Clubs have been challenged to create art that tells the story of how 4-H came to be and what it is today. During the summer, around 80 art canvases have been widely distributed throughout fairs in the province. At each event, people are encouraged to vote for their favourite canvas either online or in person.

After the canvases finish travelling and all the votes have been counted, the top two regional winners will advance to provincial finals at Ag Ex in Brandon at the end of October. There are two fairs left on the tour: Winkler Harvest Festival and Culture Days in the Pas.

"It's going to be stiff competition ... because there are some very, very well done canvases. It'll be tough for the judges to decide, I'm sure," said Clayton Robins, executive director for Manitoba 4-H Council Inc.
