Four males are facing Assault and Weapons charges in relation to a violent incident Sunday evening. 

Around 7:00 p.m on July 30, Morden police received a call from a female requesting assistance as her husband was just assaulted by three males with weapons. Police attended and spoke with the victim who had lacerations to his hip area. 

According to police, the three suspects entered the property and started fighting with the victim, kicking him, and at one point a weapon with nails was used in the assault. 

The victim was treated in hospital for his injuries and released. The three suspects, along with the driver of the vehicle, were all arrested a short time later in Morden.  

The weapon used in this incident, as well as a machete, was seized from inside the vehicle. A 24-year-old male from Altona is charged for Assault with a Weapon, two counts of Breach of Probation and Obstruct Peace Officer. A 29-year-old male from Altona and a 20-year-old male from Winkler are charged with Assault. The fourth individual, 17 years of age, is charged with Assault and Breach Probation. 

All four men will be appearing in Morden Provincial Court in September.

Morden Police responded to a number of incidents last week.

On July 24, police were called around 9:00 p.m to McDonald’s restaurant in Morden regarding a disturbance. A suspect entered the restaurant and starting yelling at staff regarding some garbage in the parking lot. As per the request of staff, the 41-year-old male was cautioned for his behavior and causing a disturbance in a public place. There were no charges as a result of this incident.

On July 25, around 9:00 p.m, police conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Colert Beach Road in Morden. While speaking with the occupants, one of the passengers admitted to having drugs and related items in the vehicle and voluntarily handed over a small quantity of marihuana, a scale, rolling papers, and a glass bong. All items were seized for destruction and the 18-year-old male from Morden was issued a warning for possession of a controlled substance.

Last week, police reported investigations involving the fraudulent use of a credit card at two businesses in Morden. This week, police received information from three other businesses involving the same credit card scam and suspects. The card was used at Saban and Company with purchases totaling around $250.00. Suspects also attended the Dollar Store and purchased approximately $77.00 of items as well as Appelt’s Jewellery where the card was used in the amount of just over $400.00. 

Again, these purchases all took place in June but the companies were only notified in July of the unauthorized transactions. Police are continuing their investigation. 

On July 27 police received a 911 call around 3:00 am about an individual yelling and screaming at an apartment on Mountain Street. Police attended to the apartment and spoke with a male individual who was having issues sleeping and was mad. Paramedics were called due to some medical issues and the male was transported to Boundary Trails Health Centre for further evaluation. 

The same day, Morden Police Service received a Warrant of Arrest for 31-year-old Curtis Ross Dalebozik of Lowe Farm for failing to comply with a probation order and for failing to attend for identification purposes.

On July 30, police received a 911 call around 1:45 am of a male passed out on the sidewalk at Thornhill Street and 15th Street in Morden.  Police attended and located a 25-year-old male from Ontario who was intoxicated but compliant. Police were able to turn the individual over to some friends who were sober. 

The same day a 31-year-old male from Winkler is facing charges of Assault with a Weapon and Breach of Probation following an incident Sunday afternoon. Around 4:10 pm, police were called to a residence with a report of a male that attended the home to speak with the owner. 

The two exchanged words that ended in the male pulling out a knife and waving it around. The suspect was located later in the evening by Winkler Police Service and turned over to Morden officers where he was released on a Promise to Appear and Undertaking with conditions to have no contact or communication with the victim. The male will be appearing in Morden Provincial Court in September.
