"UPDATE - RCMP Confirm Identity Of Found Remains Are Maria Pluschnik"

On Tuesday, February 12th at 1:55 p.m., RCMP confirmed the remains found near the community of Schanzenfeld, was that of missing 25-year-old Maria Pluschnik. The Pembina Valley community came together during this tragedy; offering their prayers, sympathies, and condolences to the family during their loss.

"Manitoba School Board Officials Look To Maintain Local Voice In Public Education"

The president of the Manitoba School Boards Association (MSBA) wasn't surprised to hear the province's education review will examine whether to merge school divisions or get rid of them entirely, and MSBA members felt the review could not be successful if individual public and community voices were diminished through the reduction or abolishment of local school boards.

"Federal, Provincial Governments Announce Millions In Road Improvements For The Region"

A handful of highways in the region were planned to get some upgrades as part of a multi-million dollar infrastructure investment from the federal and provincial governments. Over $8 million would be spent on PTH 75 to construct a new southbound commercial lane connecting the Canadian border facility at Emerson to the existing U.S. Customs plaza at the international boundary.

"Province To Review Youth Justice System"

When 60 percent of youth in correction facilities were also involved in CFS, Justice Minister Cliff Cullen said it was time to create a more comprehensive approach. The provincial government planned to undertake a review of the current youth justice system in Manitoba and its connections to the child welfare system with the aim of ending cycles of crime for at-risk youth.

"Carman PCH Announcement Shows Six Years Of Hard Work"

A project to expand the personal care home Boyne Lodge in Carman was approved on February 25, by Minister of Health, Seniors & Active Living, Cameron Friesen. The new site in Carman will be constructed in two phases; a new, 80-bed facility and the current building will be renovated to add 30 beds and modern resident support space.

A 110-bed personal care home is coming to Carman.
