Growing up in Winkler, and coming from a family of educators, the newly appointed assistant superintendent of programs and curriculum for Garden Valley School Division is looking forward to next chapter in her career.

Current Principal at Parkland Elementary School, Janice Krahn will take over the position August 1st, succeeding Todd Monster, who will become the division's superintendent next school year.

GVSD Board Chair Laurie Dyck said Krahn brings a lifetime of experience in Garden Valley School Division, being raised in the division, as well as spending her career working for the division.  "She has great experience in many different schools from rural to urban schools, and she was the candidate we felt was the best fit with the experience she has and the person who she is."

Over the past 28 years, Krahn said going from a classroom teacher to vice-principal and then principal was a great transition for her and she's looking forward to the new challenges her new role will present.  "It feels very natural for me," said Krahn.  "Being part of Garden Valley School Divison is just who we are as a family, and taking this next step just feels right, and it feels like where I need to be next."

"I count this as my home and not just home where I come to work, but I actually love being here.  It's just part of who I am."
