With construction now underway for the much needed Agassiz Medical Centre expansion, fundraising efforts are still in full force as they near their target.

Bob Wahl, Member at Large on the Board of Directors and Fundraising Committee, says they're nearing their half a million goal, reaching the $400,000 mark.

With the project anticipated for completion midsummer, Wahl says it's unbelievable the success this project has accrued.

"It blows my mind. We started with the project five/six years ago, and we got a total go-ahead about a year ago, and we started doing all our planning. It's been great to see the progress we've made, and we didn't think it would happen as fast as it did."

To reach $500,000, Wahl says they don't have any fundraising plans, but there are businesses they are soliciting and will continue to work on their public awareness. However, fundraising won't end once the goal has been reached.

Being a non-profit, Wahl says there's always a need for funding.

"That's one of our go-to areas for maintaining our clinic is public participation. In donations, different events we can host, and it's going to be an ongoing thing."

Wahl adds fundraising efforts were fantastic both in December and January, and all the project's success can be attributed to the community and region support. As construction efforts continue, Wahl says the board eagerly anticipates its completion.
