The 2017/18 budget is top of mind for Town of Altona officials.

Mayor Melvin Klassen says the town management team has spent the past few days trying to accommodate the wishes of Council, trying to determine which projects should be included in the budget..

"Both groups realize that there are many needs and wishes, however to be fiscally responsible you need to prioritize many of these needs and act on them with the money that is available."

He adds many of the items that have been determined as needs do come with serious budget implications.

"In our discussions with management there is generally a respectful conclusion the budget discussions as both groups are well aware that we need to keep our taxes in line."

Council will be presenting the budget to the public during an open meeting slated for Tuesday, March 28th.
