An Altona area farmer says he's pleased with how this year's harvest went.

Shane Friesen, who farms land between Altona and Rosenfeld, planted spring wheat, canola, corn, soybeans and dry beans this year. He admits the snow in October presented some challenges for them

"We had soybeans and corn left after the snowstorm. The snow knocked down some branches onto the soybeans, which made things a little less efficient when it came to combining that crop, but other than that, it was about what they expected."

Friesen says they were able to get all their crops off the field despite the wet weather this fall.

"In the end it was a good year. We got our crop off. Yields were good in some things, a little bit down maybe from last year, but overall it was OK"

Friesen says most farmers in his area have been able to finish up this year's harvest operations.
