Today Altona Police helped teach bike safety to children at Ecole West Park School in Altona.

Constable Brendan Funk has been involved with the event for 4 years.

"It's been going on for as long as I can remember, I even remember participating in Bike Rodeos as a kid," said Funk.

He notes they discussed road safety, hand signals, and the importance of wearing a helmet.

Jayden Friesen is a student at Ecole West park and took part in the event.

"(We) learned what the turn signals are and just how to behave properly on the road," said Jayden.

The police department takes part in the event annually as part of the Grade 4, 5, 6 school endorsed curriculum. Next week, officers will teach bike safety at the Plum Coulee School.
