The Altona Community Foundation is proud to announce the recipients of its 2018 Spring Grants.

A total of $16,230 was granted to 12 local projects and organizations.

One of the recipients is the Altona Curling Club, which received $2,630 dollars for a kitchen refit.

Alex Wahl is the president of the Altona Curling club.

"We have been hosting a couple larger events and have come to learn that our kitchen equipment is probably the next thing in line to get upgraded," said Wahl.

He said they're looking to upgrade their dishwasher, prep area, and freezing equipment.

Wahl noted the budget was tight when they moved from the old curling rink, to the new rink, at the Millennium Exhibition Centre in 2003.

"We moved over some of the existing equipment that we had at the older facility, and installed it here. It's been working for us but it's time to do some replacing," said Wahl.
