Motorists driving along Highway 75 should notice improved cell service.

Bell/MTS flicked the switch this week on its three new cell towers located at Letellier, St. Jean and Silver Plains, which is located east of Rosenort.

When Bell took over MTS last spring, one of the priority projects it identified included building the necessary infrastructure to provide continuous wireless coverage to residents, businesses and travelers along one of the province's main trade and traffic corridors.

"When we had discussions with numerous stakeholders throughout Manitoba such as government and community groups, it was communicated to us that Highway 75 had gaps in it, and we made a commitment that we would close those gaps," said Dan McKeen, vice-chair for Bell/MTS. "It takes awhile to the spend the necessary capital for those results to come through, but seven-and-a-half months later we've delivered on that promise."

The three new cellular sites are now fully operational and will provide continuous wireless coverage along the entirety of the highway.

"By bringing our award-winning mobile technology to this area of the province, we are improving the safety of motorists and travelers," said McKeen. "In addition, we are also enhancing communications services and benefiting the business community in the region."
