It was all the Morden Block Party organizers could ask for. They had beautiful weather which brought great crowds for the community event.

"The Block Party was originally started eleven years ago as a way we could say thank you to our customers for their patronage through the year," said event organizer James Steedsman.

Not only is this event an opportunity for everyone to have a fun free day in downtown Morden, but it's also raising funds for a pair of local charities at the same time, through the two BBQ's going on during the day.

Steedsman noted people in the community remember their favourite parts of the event year after year.

"Some people love burnout out competition and some people love the kid's part, where they can bring their kids out and play all day for free," said Steedsman. "The comments that we get above and beyond that is how we are supporting the community, or of someone seeing a business they didn't know existed before and hopefully that can give them some business down the road."

Events were held for all ages throughout the day.  For the car enthusiasts, there was a Show & Shine and the day ended with the Burn Out Competition. The community was also treated to live music, fun for kids at the Confederation Park, a Mighty Man & Woman Competition, a wrestling show, and the competition was fierce in the street hockey tournament. There was no shortage of food to eat from food truck vendors and BBQs in support of the local Youth For Christ and Pembina Valley Humane Society.
