Big Brothers Big Sisters is gearing up for their most crucial day of fundraising, Bowl For Kids Sake, March 25.

The single event greatly impacts their budget for the entire year. Last year the event raised nearly $35,000.

"It will judge how we are financially for the year," Executive Director Michael Penner says. "The success of this event is obviously paramount to the success of our programming."

In the past year over 90 kids were mentored.

"It's been really good to see that growth. We hope we can continue to offer these programs for kids that really need it."

BBBS recently expanded into Altona, and hired a part-time staff to help oversee additional programming.

The annual fundraiser takes place at Valley Bowling Lanes in Winkler.

This year teams of four are encouraged to dress up as their favourite superhero.

"We always try and make it a lot of fun," Penner says, adding the day also includes prizes for best costumes and a silent auction.

Year after year, many local companies take part in the day, either through sponsorship or assembling a team.

"The support's incredible," he says. "I love to see how many companies have been with us... they believe in our mission."

"They do such a wonderful, needed job in our community," Morden City Councillor Alex Fedorchuk says
