The Boyne Regional Library has been working hard to gain ground of fundraising for the first phase of their expansion project. Part one is a one storey addition of 1,700 sq. ft., and renovations to the entranceway and children's section known as 'The Stacks.'

Dale Owen, Boyne Regional Library Expansion and Renovation Committee Chair says, "fundraising right now is about $20,000 off of our $910,000 for the first phase."

She says they have a few events planned for spring so that they can start the project as soon as possible.

"We're hoping to do a 'Bail You Out' day on the 18 of April. We are doing a run, we're calling it the 'Boyne Book It Fun Run.' That's in May."

Owen notes that construction of phase one can only start when they hit the fundraising mark and not a day sooner.

"If anyone out there was thinking about making a donation now is a great time, because the sooner that we can get that last few-thousand dollars raised, the sooner that we can get the show on the road."

Phase two of the project will see a $150,000 wheelchair accessible ramp being added onto the heritage facility. Phase three will cost $250,000 which includes renovating the current office space and the original part of the post office building into a new children's section.
