A 17-year-old youth was caught in the middle of break-in at a local business early Friday morning.

On October 23rd at about 12:40 a.m. police were notified of an intrusion alarm at a business on Foxfire Trail. While officers were responding to the call they were further informed that the owner of the business was watching their video surveillance remotely from a different location and could see someone inside the building.

Upon arrival officers noticed a broken exterior window and briefly saw the suspect inside. When the suspect became aware of the police presence he ran from the window and further into the building.

Police waited for assistance from the Morden and Altona Police Services as well as Winkler’s K9 unit with service dog Juno before entering the building. A thorough search was conducted within the business and the lone suspect was eventually located hiding in an elevated storage area.

A 17-year-old youth from Roseau River was arrested and is facing charges of break and enter, possession of cannabis by a young person and for consumption of alcohol by a minor.
