According to the municipality, the move is necessary in order to begin replacement of the bridge over the Little Morris River.

A provincial spokesperson says Manitoba Infrastructure is currently awarding the construction contract for the new bridge with work expected to begin in the next few weeks.

Work includes the construction of a new bridge and will also increase the elevation of the approaches to the bridge to accommodate a high water event equivalent to the 2009 flood.

The province says work should be complete this fall.
