The fifth annual Burgers for Boundary Trails was held at the Morden Dairy Queen yesterday, where $1 from every bacon cheese grillburger purchased was donated to the local hospital.

"I really appreciate our hospital here," said Chris MacPherson, co-owner of the Dairy Queen in Morden.

"We've used the hospital ourselves, having lived here for the past six or seven years. I think, being in business in the community, you always [need] to find ways to give back, and this is a great way to do it."

Donations were also being accepted through "tip jars" laid out next to the tills. Two customers added their share to the jar after paying for their food. Mike Wiebe and his daughter Annabelle spoke about their experience with the hospital.

"I like the idea that we live so close to a hospital," said Wiebe. "There's great people who work there, and they always take good care of use. We've had to use it several times."

"A couple of times, when I had strep throat," said Annabelle, "I didn't know what was going on. So we went to the emergency at Boundary Trails."

MacPherson would like to see the fundraiser reach $500 one day. The past few years have see totals around $200 to $250.
