Rain is in the forecast for this weekend which should help put a damper on the fire situation in southern Manitoba.

Until then, the Carman-Dufferin Fire Department reminds residents to refrain from burning of any kind after crews responded to a call regarding a fire on a rural property on Tuesday.

Fire chief Ben Vanderzwaag the blaze turned out to be quite a challenge.

"It was northeast of Carman and we had approximately 3-4 acres of rural property that was burning. It was a combination of grass and bush and it did get into one structure... unfortunately that equipment and building was a total loss," he said.

Conditions are so dry that even the green grass is burning, according to Vanderzwaag.
