Thirty-seven graduates will walk down the aisle today to receive their high school diplomas from Carman Collegiate.

Together two students, Hannah Petrie and Emma Gylywoychuk-Winkler, will deliver the valedictorian speech this afternoon.

"It's surreal. It's like we've been working for this one day all our lives, but now we've finally reached it. It's kind of nerve-wracking going into the future but extremely exciting," Petrie said.

The two listed some of their fondest memories, including being involved with student council, attending gym riots, dances, June So Soon, playing sports and winning Zone banners.

"Our whole group has been very connected throughout the years. We had many fun field trips and many events that we have all been involved with and many funny moments throughout high school," Petrie said.

Approximately 30 of the students plan on attending post-secondary school within one year of graduation and the rest intend to enter the workforce or farm.

"Everyone always says to you that your Grade 12 year flies by and I never really believed them but now I know exactly what they mean. It feels like just yesterday that we were coming into the Collegiate and that it was September of this (school) year, and now we're all of a sudden done and really excited to see what the future holds," Gylywoychuk-Winkler said.

In the fall, Petrie plans to attend Red Deer College in Alberta to study in the education field and play for the school's women's hockey team. Gylywoychuk-Winkler will study kinesiology at the University of Manitoba, with aspirations to eventually become a physiotherapist.
