The Carman Farmer's Market is gearing up for a modified season in light of the current health situation.

Joyce Nicolajsen explains the farmer's market is opening every Friday at 4:00 p.m starting June 19.

This year, the market is housed at the Fairgrounds in Carman just south of the arena. In order to maintain safety, only four food vendors will be open but organizers hope to add more vendors as the season continues. Shoppers will also be unable to eat on the grounds for the time being.

"It's not the way we'd want it do be done normally," Nicolajsen says, but adds it's exciting to be able to open after so much uncertainty this spring.

"We are well received by-and-large, so we are excited to be there, but it's disappointing," she adds, when they had planned for music performances and a picnic area.

However, she says residents have already become accustom to the new regulations when shopping and doesn't anticipate the parameters keeping people away.

With outdoor gatherings capped at 50 people, Nicolajsen says they will have to keep an eye on how many shoppers are allowed in at a time.

Purchasing locally grown food remains an important service to the community, she adds.

After spending 15 years at the Syl's location, the Carman Farmer's Market is moving to the Fairgrounds south of the arena.
