The Boyne Regional Library Expansion Project in Carman is well-underway with its final phase of construction and heading into the final push of fundraising.

"We have raised $1.15 million. We have $115,000 left to raise," says fundraising Chair, Dale Owen.

She says all of the phases have begun and the date they plan to move in will be in early February 2020.

"Phase one was the addition and work to the inside, new office areas and lending areas, and the stacks. Phase two was the accessibility ramp outside, and phase three is the children’s section."

They have a few more fundraisers in the books to help raise the final amount including a raffle for two donated baskets of children's toys.

"People can get their names in for wine survivor. Wine survivor is like a team sport like survivor on TV. There's a team of four, each person puts in the fee and a bottle of wine . . . then for ten days in December we draw names out and the last person to survive that day wins four bottles of wine."

Owen says there is room for 25 teams, and the last day has a jackpot where the final person standing gets the rest of the wine.

"The other thing that’s coming up is the Family Resource Centre along with the Kinsmen Kinettes puts on a one-stop-shop craft sale."

This will take place at the Carman Community Hall. There will be a table set up for the expansion project for anyone willing to donate or sign up for wine survivor.

As well, residents are welcome to do their own fundraisers or bring ideas to the committee.

"We've had a really good response with that kind of thing. We've had people that have used their own skills and resources to put on fundraisers for us. As an example, Leanne Doell Photography did a fundraiser for us in the fall. She did picture sittings and gave half the proceeds to the fundraising endeavour. Those kinds of things are always bonuses for us."

Owen adds they are very appreciative of the community and how they have worked hard to support the project through donations, fundraisers, and their own businesses.

"Just need to push it through to the end here now and get that last just over $100,000."
