Central Station Community Centre in Winkler is on the home stretch of numerous renovations and expansions.

Executive Director Bev Wiebe explains with the help of many business donations they've completed a major parking lot expansion, nearly doubling in space.

"We did have some fairly hefty donations in terms of time, labour and product, so we're very grateful for the business community," Wiebe says.

The front entrance also boasts more finely crushed rock to make it more wheelchair accessible.

"That's always been an issue, so trying to make it more accessible for everyone," Wiebe says.

Thanks to a number of donations from local businesses, Central Station, Winkler Food Cupboard and the Bunker boast a much larger parking lot

Renovations are finished on the Central Station kitchen as well, which recently hosted a Kids in the Kitchen class over the summer. The program is run with funding from Southern Health in partnership with C.W Wiebe Medical Clinic Dietician Candice Comtois.

"The feedback was great, all the kids seem to really enjoy it," Wiebe says.

The Winkler Food Cupboard joined Central Station at their 545 Industrial Dr. location in Winkler earlier this year as well. Youth ministry, The Bunker, built an addition on the East side of the facility making room for the food cupboard.

Central Station also partners with Donate Love to host a free community meal, Cafe 545, every Monday.

The meal continues to see upwards of 200 people each week.

In total 12 kids attended the cooking classes
