The Morden Police Board is an opportunity for a civilian to provide governance, administrative guidance, organization to the police service, and ensure it provides effective service to the community.

Currently, the city is looking for two citizens who will be appointed by the council. Individuals must be at least 18 years of age, be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident, and resides in, employed in, or has a business interest in the municipality or another area in which the police service provides policing services.

Morden Police Chief Brad Neduzak says the position on the police board is one way a person can give back to their community and feels they have something to offer.

"Providing some input into the police service, how it operate, strategies and where time and funds is allocated by the police service, and contribute to your community that way."

Neduzak says the board works closely with the police chief, and there is also a meeting once every three months with additional meetings if needed around budget time.

Interested parties are invited to provide a short letter describing their interest in serving on the police board, which can be submitted by letter or in person to the Morden Civic Centre.

Applications are due by November 12.
