The fourth annual Skate Pink was held Saturday in St. Jean in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Approximately 60 players registered to play in the three team co-ed tournament, which was co-founded by Tashia Dreger and Karine Sabourin.

"We get a lot of return players that come back every year. It's one of only two opportunities in the province for guys to play ringette ... I think a number of them have grown up in this community and have watched ringette, and now they finally get an opportunity to play it," said Dreger.

Sabourin noted "we wanted to do something to bring the ringette community back into the spotlight." She added, "we tied it to breast cancer because we were focused on girls in sports ... and everyone has been affected by breast cancer."

The event was organized by 8 committee heads, with dozens of other volunteers helping organize the fundraiser.

Additionally, proceeds from a dinner were given to the family of the late Dylan Berard, who will in turn donate the money to a charity of their choice.

Skate Pink is the second largest fundraiser for Breast Cancer in Manitoba, as $8,000 has been raised each year.

Sabourin says $10,000 is their goal for 2017.
