RCMP have released more details on the head-on collision 5 km South of Winkler that has left a Winkler woman and 11 year old boy in critical condition.

Just after 12:20 pm on Sunday March 19, 2017, Morden RCMP along with the Winkler Police Service responded to a two vehicle head on collision on Highway 32, just south of Winkler.

A northbound SUV with five passengers and a southbound car with four passengers collided head on.

EMS from Winkler and Altona, STARS air ambulance, and the Winkler Fire Department attended to the scene to assist.

The 37 year old female driver of the SUV and an 11 year old boy, both from Winkler, were taken to hospital in Winnipeg and remain in critical condition.

The three other female passengers ages 7, 5, and 1 were taken to a local hospital and are in stable condition.

 The 41 year old male driver of the car, as well as three females ages 38, 17, and 13, all from the Winkler area, were taken to a local hospital and are in stable condition.

 Alcohol is not a factor in the collision and all of the occupants of the vehicles were properly restrained.

 The Morden RCMP along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist continue to investigate.
