A rash of break-ins over the last month in the community of Rosenort was up for discussion at Wednesday's regular council meeting.

Reeve Ralph Groening explained that public safety is a number one priority.

"The safety of our communities is always a primary concern and we have shared that concern with local RCMP. We remind and encourage people that if they see any suspicious behaviour of any kind to please call local RCMP and even 911 if it's of a serious nature."

Groening added, as a rural community, they have to look out for each other noting he'd rather have a false alarm than take a chance with public safety.

"The individuals caught were from Winnipeg, They were on a tour and took advantage of a small district and our small police presence in the community," said Groening.

Rosenort has seen a rise in theft throughout the community over the last year, always conducted by individuals that are from out of town.
