Winkler’s Quality Inn was the home of laughter this Friday with the 6th annual Raise the Woof! Comedy Night for the Pembina Valley Humane Society.

The event was completely sold out along with all mystery bags for the mystery bag raffle, even with the increase in both seats and bags.

PR Chair for the Humane Society Megan Rogers says having the event sell out is amazing and will allow the society to care for even more animals.

"It just amazes me that people back year after year and support us is just fantastic. The veterinary care we'll be able to give to the animals, all animals are spayed or neutered, up to date on their shots, and has a tattoo. To be able to do that for hundreds of more animals because of this event means a lot to us."

Rogers also notes they are looking for more volunteers for their Fundraising Committee, to help plan events including Raise the Woof!, Steak Night, Dance, and Walk-A-Thon. Applications can be found on pvhsociety.ca.

Comics during the evening included Mike Green, Jordan Welwood, and headlining for the evening Sean Lecomber.

Lecomber has a comedy special on Comedy Central, he was also a guest on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Lecomber was excited to part of the event and while still in character shared what his first experience in Winkler was like.

"This was my first time in Winkler and I'll never be back. No, I'll come bring my family here on vacation for sure. This is a great place to come and bring your family for summer."

Totals for funds raised are still being calculated.
