Construction crews will finish off the work they started last year around St. Jean Baptiste along Highway 75.

Concrete will be laid along the northbound lanes just south of the new Plum River bridge on 75. Currently, motorists must travel along a single asphalt lane.

Montcalm Reeve Derek Sabourin says crews will also concrete the two entrances at the north and south ends of St. Jean.

Sabourin says work on the entrances came to a stop last fall and that has generated a fair number of complaints from local residents.

"They broke the concrete last fall in anticipation of getting the work done last year, but they never did. As a result, the entrances are very rough leading into town. Last year they only got started on that project in August and we would like to see them get an earlier start this year."

Manitoba infrastructure also intends to replace the Kronsgart box culvert near St. Jean, however, that project has yet to be tendered.

Sabourin remains hopeful that work will get started in 2019.
