A new bridge over the Little Morris River on PR 422, south of Rosenort, has been in the works for some time now.

Last year council had even approved a detour route proposed by Manitoba Infrastructure & Transportation.

RM of Morris Reeve, Ralph Groening, said the ten-million dollar replacement turned out to be too expensive for the province, and therefore they have scaled it back to a more modest project.

"Land owners were contacted, we were contacted, detours were put in place, the project appeared to be just somewhat too expensive for the province, I understand that, " said Groening.

The province has committed to completing the bridge replacement project by the fall of 2018, said Groening.

Groening added he feels confident that PR 422 will have a new bridge next year.
