The inaugural season of the Winkler Dodgeball League is set to kick-off this month.

Recreation Programmer Jordan Driedger explains dodgeball is more than just a kid's game.

"It's definitely a sport that takes a lot of athleticism," he says. "The adults I've talked to have just loved it."

Driedger notes the league is open to anyone over the age of 16. Teams consist of 6-12 players and is open to both men and women.

The sport also has few barriers to entry.

"It's a great sport because it doesn't involve a lot of equipment, it's a low cost sport," Driedger says, noting leagues have become popular in Winnipeg and Brandon.

Games will run on Sunday evenings for 12 weeks from February to April.

To register, contact Winkler Parks & Recreation at 204-325-8333 or jdriedger@cityofwinkler.ca. The cost is $250 per team or $40 per individual.
