The City of Morden is looking at improving the looks of its downtown with its Downtown Facade Improvement program.

City Planner Martin Sandhurst said the application deadline has passed and the applications are in.

These grants are available to businesses from 3rd street to 12th, including Stephen St. and North Railway.

"Council's commitment is to positively contribute to the exciting momentum of the downtown area," said Sandhurst.

The City allocated $40,000 for these grants and there will be a matching grant for 50% of the project cost to a maximum of $5,000 per property.

Sandhurst explained the goal behind this program is to build strong connections to the pedestrian realm, improve to the safety of downtown, to encourage all-season activity, and to have innovative and fun features.

Funding will be determined based on the quotations provided.
