Due to the high number of emergencies around the world MCC is running low on funds the group dedicates to help those in need.

MCC is a global, non-profit organization that strives to share God’s love and compassion through relief, development and peace building.
In all their programs they are committed to relationships with local partners and churches and their needs guide MCC’s priorities.

An MCC Manitoba representative spoke to supporters at the annual Relief Sale in Brandon on Saturday. “I’d like to say the work we do is extremely important and we have responded to 26 emergencies in the past six months” said Brad Reimer MCC Manitoba’s Communications and Donor Relations Director.

He adds some of those emergencies have been rather large such as the hurricanes and now the earth quake in Mexico.”Many of them, the emergencies, are ones that will never reach the news in place like Congo and South Sudan but they are all in need and MCC has responded to the best of its ability.”

“To be quite frank just this past week our international department said our coffers were running low” said Reimer.

Manitobans are often praised for their generosity and MCC hopes not just local residents but people across Canada and the United States will step up and support the group and its efforts. “There will be in the coming weeks an appeal coming from across North America from MCC basically indicating that we have responded to these 26 emergencies and we’ve used up our funds basically.”
