Altona/Rhineland fire crews worked through the early hours of Tuesday morning to extinguish a structure fire at Elmer's Manufacturing north of Altona.

Altona Fire Chief Greg Zimmerman says they were called out to the property at around midnight where a fire in a paint shop started up.

"When we arrived the paint booth was burning and we managed to extinguish it, but the fire spread up the walls and into the ceiling, and made its way across the roof. So, we've been working on

that since about midnight."

The Plum Coulee and Winkler fire departments assisted on the call, and crews were able to eventually douse all the flames.

"The fire basically went up to the roof, and kept away from the ground floor of the building. Most of the contents of the building are salvageable.," said Zimmerman

The paint shop and one of the assembly shops sustained most of the damage.

A news release issued late this morning by Elmer's Manufacturing said the company was assessing the damage, and looking for solutions to deliver on its orders.

Two people were working in the paint shop when the fire broke out, but no one was injured.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
