In January the Emerson Co-Operative Community Centre received a sizeable donation of $4,400 from Scotia Bank located in Emerson. The donation was made to match the revenue made at the community's fall supper in 2016.

"This is something the Scotia Bank in Emerson has been providing the centre for many years. It's wonderful when organizations like Scotia Bank and the community offer to make that gesture," said President of the Co-Operative Centre Wayne Arseny.

Arseny went on to say this past year's fall supper was similar in participation to previous years.

"But none the less a good event with people from all around the region and we are always extremely grateful to Scotia Bank for matching or revenue from that event."

The Complex has received numerous upgrades throughout 2016 to the roof, signage, interior paint and ceiling tile replacement. Arseny said the donation from Scotia is not earmarked for anything in specific yet but the complex is still in need of more upgrades.

"We have several projects we are working on, we are in the process of installing a new overhead projector for those renting the hall to use. We are making preparations and plans to do some renovations in the kitchen, we probably need a new stove range hood basically bringing safety and technology up to speed in the complex which has not been addressed for many years."

The community centre is owned and operated by Emerson residents and can be rented for many types of events such as weddings, birthdays, and fundraisers just to name a few. The centre also houses the community's curling arena and has a designated space for the Emerson Elks Club.
