Red River Valley School Division saw a significant increase in its enrollment for this school year.

School Divisions are required to report their total enrollment figures to the province at the end of September.

"Total enrollment for this year is 2,190 pupils. Some schools are up and others are down a little bit, but across the division we're up about 75 students from last year," said Brad Curtis, superintendent for Red River Valley.

Curtis doesn't think there is one particular reason for the increase. Some of it is related to people moving into certain areas of the division, and another reason is connected to schools-of-choice students who may be attending class in Red River Valley even though they don't reside in the division.

"It's a nice start to the year and we're hoping that it continues."
