Looking after children has been a lifelong dream for Dana MacPherson, now that can become a reality with Sharptooth Adventures.

The dinosaur-themed indoor play centre will be the first commercially run facility of this kind in Morden and was the next step for Dana and her husband Chris after they sold the Dairy Queen in Morden.

Chris says Dana had always wanted to work with kids even back when they first met 19 years ago. Now with the DQ out of the way Chris says they're making that dream a reality.

"Now that we've sold the DQ she's looking at working with kids again. So we're looking at how do we work with kids that's not necessarily a daycare. We want to have fun so she came up with this indoor play centre."

Excitement has been brewing for this facility, Chris says some parents have already called it a saviour to the parents of Morden.

$1.1 million is the estimated value of the 5,000 sq ft. centre and will be similar to play centres found in Winnipeg, with activities, food and entertainment for kids ages zero to twelve to enjoy.

Another key service that would be available would be a babysitting service where parents could call ahead and drop their kid off for a couple of hours if they needed to complete chores or have a date night.

Dana notes this would offer an opportunity for people to work part-time and earn some more money than a typical babysitter.

Sharpie will be at the entrance to greet everyone as they enter. Sharpie the sharptooth is a model dinosaur and mascot for Sharptooth Adventure.

"Having a dinosaur theme is I think important because we do have the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre here. We've already got a bit of a dinosaur theme going on, though the mosasaur isn't officially a dinosaur," says Chris.

A dinosaur theme adds another element to the tourism of the city, notes Chris, explaining having a common theme could turn Morden into the next Drumheller.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Mayor Ken shared a few words, saying after five years of hard work seeing the quick development east of Morden is exciting, to say the least.

With his own grandchildren right in the middle of the age group of Sharptooth Adventures, he says it couldn't be more welcome to the community.

"It's great, it's fantastic, I've got grandkids who are the perfect age for this, five and seven. This is going to be zero to twelve, it's absolutely going to be good for me for seven years."

Sharptooth Adventures is planned to be completed before winter this year.
