Salem Home in Winkler is receiving a three-season gazebo thanks to the Falk-Fehr Foundation.

Local hockey heroes Justin Falk and Eric Fehr teamed up with a number of local businesses to design a three-season gazebo for families to visit loved ones outside.

Organizers say the gazebo will be incorporated into the design of the future expansion and will be screened in and feature lighting, ceiling fans, as well as wheelchair accessibility.

"We know how precious and valued our time with parents and grandparents is to us," Falk says. "And we feel those at Salem would appreciate a space like this to enjoy their family time as well."

Fehr adds they're extremely grateful for the generosity of the many businesses in the community that helped the idea become a reality.

Salem CEO Sherry Janzen notes creating a comfortable outdoor space for residents and their families is a thoughtful gift, especially when outdoor visits are the safest option during the current health situation.

"When residents and their families can visit in a quiet and restful place, especially in today’s environment of needing to be careful with the residents' safety, it is a true gift for everyone," Janzen says. "There are areas where visits can take place, but many of them have street noise and are busy, which, perhaps is not the most advantageous visiting environment. Having this space will be perfect."
