The new federal budget is getting a big thumbs down from Provencher Conservative MP Ted Falk. He says it amounts to a continuation of broken promises by the Liberal Government.

Ted Falk"The Prime Minister had promised in his pre-election campaign that he would balance the budget by 2019. He actually said it would balance itself and it obviously hasn't. And instead, he's projecting another $20 billion deficit. That was certainly disappointing that there's no movement to reign in spending."

Falk adds the $41 billion in new spending is nothing but a bunch of pre-election goodies designed to try and make voters forget about the SNC-Lavalin affair.

"He's just sprinkling out a pre-election budget for this coming year to try and change the channel from the SNC-Lavalin scandal to hopefully entice people to vote for his government in the upcoming election."

He notes the ongoing deficit spending by the Liberals comes with a price.

"And that's that somebody has to pay for it at some time. The only way that the debt of a federal government gets paid for is by income taxes and so somewhere along the road, people's taxes are going to continue to go up."
