Residents of Rosenort certainly had an interesting start to their day. Noise from a Hercules search and rescue plane flying over the small community drew people out of their homes early this morning to see what was going on.

R.M. of Morris Reeve Ralph Groening says it was a false alarm that drew the aircraft to the area. Officials were responding to what they thought was a distress signal from another plane, but it turns out a faulty locator beacon was triggered in a parked aircraft at the local hangar. The Hercules made a few passes over Rosenort before retreating.

Groening adds the quick response of the search and a rescue is reassuring. "We were always confident...but this was proof that they are there to protect our communities and identify any problems that people may have when flying our skies."
