Children are incredibly precious, and though we may not want to think about things that could happen it's essential to prepare for if they do.

In the case of a child's disappearance, the Morden and District Lion's Club has been assisting the Morden Police Service in fingerprinting kindergarten classes.

Police Chief Brad Neduzak says the Lion's first brought the idea forward in 2004 and have been doing it every year since teaching the students about safety.

"We want them to learn about strangers and who they should and shouldn't speak with, and the steps they can take if someone comes up to them and approaches them... The sooner we get into the schools and have that conversation with the students we hope it will make for a safer community and provide the students with some tools they can use."

The kits contain the child's fingerprints and personal information and are given to the parents to be used if the child ever went missing.

Fortunately, Neduzak says in Morden every situation where a child has gone missing they were recovered quickly. However, this isn't the reality for some areas says Neduzak, and preparing can help police in their jobs in finding that child.
