The Reeve for the Rural Municipality of Stanley isn't to concerned about the risk of flooding at this time.

"The flooding concern is all weather related. If we get nine or so hot days here... there's going to be some water going over the road. By looking out on the fields, I don't see a huge flood issue right now," explained Morris Olafson. "There's a ton of snow in the bush, but as far as field run off it looks manageable."

Earlier this month Stanley had experienced some overland flooding in the Schanzenfeld area. Olafson noted this was due to the culverts in the area being completely frozen solid.

To resolve this situation the public works crews have been thawing a two inch hole through the culvert with a steamer. Olafson stated a two inch hole is a start, but when the culvert is thirty inches there's a long way to go.

While flooding isn't a major concern at this point, Olafson says the Municipality is continuing to monitor the situation every day.
